Ghodepani-Poon Hill Trek

Ghorepani, a beautiful village in the Ghorepani-Poon Hill trek is heavily occupied by the Gurungs and significant number of Magars.

In Ghorepani, a hike to Poon-Hill is a highlight. If trekkers start an early morning hike to Poon-hill, a top-tier view of snow-capped summits namely; Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Annapurna (8,091m.) and Manaslu( 8,156 m.) will not be missed. Moreover, the scenery of dense rhododendron forests full of birds is delight-able.

After trekkers descend to Ghandruk, a beautiful traditional Gurung village, marvellous view of Macchapuchare and Annapurna South can be seen. In addition to being popular for its traditional houses and rich culture, it is also famous for Gorkha soldiers.

Australian base camp is a well-liked route in the Annapurna region. It unveils splendid view of the Annapurna south, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchare and Lamjung. Enjoying the sun after lunch and camping after dinner adds fun to your trek.

From Australian Base Camp, a trek down to Phedi and then a drive to Pokhara will end the trek.


 

Day 01: Kathmandu – by tourist bus to Pokhara 6-7hrs / 820m.

Day 02: Pokhara – by taxi to Nayapul and trek to Tirkhedhunga  5hrs / 1480m.

Day 03: Tirkhe Dunga – Ghodepani 5-6hrs / 2860m.

Day 04: Ghodepani – early morning hike to Poon-Hill for sunrise view of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu ranges and many more mountains and trek to Tadapani 6hrs / 2630m.

Day 05: Tadapani – Ghandruk 5hrs / 1940m.

Day 06: Ghandruk – Tolkha 5hrs / 1700m.     

Day 07: Tolkha – Australian camp 5hrs / 1890m.

Day 08: Australian camp – descend down to Phedi 3-4hrs and drive to Pokhara 820m.

Day 09: Pokhara – Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus 6-7hrs 1260m.
