Gokyo-Chola pass-Kalapathar Trek
This trek is an amalgamation of Gokyo, Chola Pass and Kalapathar. Starting from Phaplu and heading towards Thaksindo, Kharikhola, Paiya and Namche Bazaar, where a rest day and hiking for acclimatization will take place. Namche Bazaar is known among trekkers as a place for altitude acclimatization and refilling center of their necessary stock.
The Gokyo valley is an amazing setting with the inclusion of the Gokyo Lake and the Gokyo Ri peak. Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse and Makalu are visible from the Gokyo valley. In Gokyo valley, trekkers will climb the Gokyo Ri (5357m.) and descend to Thaknag to cross the Cho La Pass (5368m.).
When in Gorakshep, trekkers will take an early morning hike to Kalapathar (5545m.) and Everest BC (5310m.). This can be done in a day. Gorakshep is the easiest route that leads to Kalapathar. Everest, Changtse, Nuptse Nup II and also a part of Lhotse is seen from Kalapathar.
Day 01: Kathmandu – by jeep to Phaplu 9-10hrs / 1956m.
Day 02: Phaplu – Thaksindo 6hrs / 2930m.
Day 03: Thaksindo – Kharikhola 6hrs / 2040m.
Day 04: Kharikhola – Paiya 6hrs / 2730m.
Day 05: Paiya – Phakding 6hrs / 2610m.
Day 06: Phakding – Namche 6hrs / 3440m.
Day 07: Rest day and hiking for acclimatization
Day 08: Namche – Dole 5-6hrs / 4110m.
Day 09: Dole – Gokyo lake 6hrs / 4790m.
Day 10: Gokyo lake – Climb Gokyo-Ri and descend to Thaknag 5-6hrs / 4700m.
Day 11: Thaknag – cross Chola pass 5368m. and camp to Zhongla 7hrs / 4665m.
Day 12: Zhongla – Gorakshep 6hrs / 5140m.
Day 13: Gorakshep – Early morning Hike to Kalapathar 5545m. and after lunch hike to Everest BC 5310m. and back to Gorakshep
Day 14: Gorakshep – Feruche 6hrs / 4240m.
Day 15: Feruche – Tenboche 5-6hrs / 3860m.
Day 16: Tenboche – Namche 5-6hrs / 3440m.
Day 17: Namche – Lukla 6hrs / 2810m.
Day 18: Lukla – fly back to Kathmandu 45mints / 1260m.
