Overview

Langtang Ganjala Pass  (5,130 m) Trek starts from Syabru Bensi, ends at Melamchi Pul Bazar. From Sybru Bensi, you will follow the Langtang river to the east until you get to Kyanching Gompa (3,049 m). Some 5 km to the south of Kyanching Gompa are the peaks of Naya Kanga (5,846 m) and, to the southeast, Ponggen Dopku (5,930m). Kyanching Gompa is surrounded by Mt Langtang Lirung (7,245 m ) on the west, Yala peak on the north, Dorje Lakpa(6,966 m), Urkeinmang(6,387 m), Loenpo Gang (6,979 m) and Kangchenpo on the north-east. In Kyanjing Gompa there are a small Buddhist monastery and a cheese factory started in 1955 by the Swiss Association for Technical Assistance. When you are crossing the pass there are spectacular views of Langtang Lirung and the Tibetan peaks beyond. Much of this route is spent above 3,000m (10,000ft). The highest point of this trek is Ganjala Pass (5,122m ). On the very pass of Ganjala, the last few 100m trails are precarious so we use a rope there for safety, though the utmost care is enough.

The descent from the pass is on a steep slope for over 1 km which requires good care again. But the rest of the trail is easy and comfortable. As there are no lodges and no settlements for three days along the way, the group should be well equipped with enough food.

Itinerary

We will travel towards Dhunche by jeep which will take 7 hours to reach there. We will take rest and stay overnight in a hotel.

The route goes uphill offering the beautiful scenery of Mt Makalu, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Annapurna, and many snow-capped peaks. We will cross the hillock, farming lands, and rivers to reach Thulo Syabru.

Our walking trail begins from Tulo Syabru as we head towards Lama Hotel. After an hour walk through the hill, we will reach Bamboo village. From the village, we will steeply climb through the bamboo forest to reach Lama Hotel.

The trail goes across through the dense forest of Rhododendron to reach Langtang Valley passing Ghoda Tabela. The spectacular scenery of Langtang Lirung fascinates everyone passing through this route.

The route passes the pasture land and crosses the Mani Wall with the prayer inscription. We can see the spectacular vistas of icefall flowing from the Langtang Range.

We will hike up to Tsergo Ri which will take 5 hours to reach there. The peak offers outstanding scenery of surrounding peaks. After spending some quality time, we will descend back to Kyanging Gompa for the overnight stay.

There are no villages or local settlements between Kyanging Gompa and Ngegang Village. So, we must take care of time during our walking trail through the ridge of crests with little vegetation.

Ngegang to Keldang is quite challenging and thrilling part of the trip as we are required to walk through the icy and slippery path. We will climb up to cross the Ganja La Pass which has been always always covered by snow then descend to Keldang Village.

The route goes through the grassland and traverses along the ridge of the crest offering spectacular views of silent and white mountains.

With the stunning outlooks to massifs of Annapurna region and Everest region, we will descend towards Tarkegyang Village. We can visit Buddhist Monastery and villages of Sherpa People.

The cultural village of Sherpa is located in the lap of high hills offering stunning views of farming lands and high massifs above the hill. We will walk for 5 hours to get into this village.

The route goes through terraced fields used for farmings and crosses villages and several villages to reach Melamchi Pul Bazaar.

We will travel back to Kathmandu Valley by bus or Jeep which will take 6 hours to enter into the city.
