Upper Mustang Trekking (14 days)

Jomsom (2743m.) is also known as new port. It is a dry landscape. Nilgiri (7,061 m) and Dhaulagiri (8,167 m) are visible from Jomsom. Despite numbers of fights being scheduled to Jomsom, going there largely depends on the weather conditions. There are many hotels and lodges in Jomsom for accommodation.

Locals in the Jomsom area are basically ‘Thakalis’. They are hard working and believe in ancient culture. From the very beginning, locals of Jomsom were and are engaged in trade. Jomsom is also popular for its apple production.

From Jomsom, a 4 hr trek will take trekkers to Kagbeni. Kagbeni is a gateway to Upper Mustang. Kagbeni is a remote village in the Himalayan region. Kagbeni depends on tourism and agriculture.

Lo Manthang is the capital of Mustang. Hiking, photography, sightseeing, trekking are major objectives to visit Lo Manthang. To reach to Lo Manthang steepy rocks and desert like places should be passed.

On the 11th day, Mt. Everest can be visible from Syanboche in case weather favors.

Day 01: Kathmandu – by tourist bus to Pokhara

Day 02: Pokhara – By flight Jomsom & trek to Kagbeni 4hrs / 2810m.

Day 03: Kagbeni – Chhusang 5-6hrs / 2980m.

Day 04: Chhusang – Syangboche 6hrs / 3809m.

Day 05: Syangboche – Ghemi 5-6hrs / 3510m.

Day 06: Ghemi – Tsarang 3-4hrs / 3560m. 

Day 07: Tsarang – Lo Manthang village “capital of Mustang region” 5-6hrs / 3810m.

Day 08: Visit Lo Manthang’s village and discovery

Day 09: Lho Monthang to visit Namgyal Gompa 3910m., Tinggar Gumba 4025m. and return to Lho Manthang 5/6hrs of walking
Day 10: Lo Manthang – Ghemi 6-7hrs / 3510m.      

Day 11: Ghemi – Syanboche 5-6hrs / 3809m.
Day 12: Syangboche – Chhusang 6hrs / 2980m.

Day 13: Chhusang – Jomsom 6hrs / 2720m.

Day 14: Jomsom – by flight to Pokhara and same day fly back to Kathmandu
