Saribung peak (6,346 m) is located at the isolated part of the Mustang region of Damodar Himal, close to the border of Tibet. This mountain expedition is one of the recently introduced routes in 2006 A.D. This challenging route starts with the Upper Mustang trek to Lo-Manthang and Lory Gompa. Afterward leads into the wilds of Namta Khola Valley. Or it can be started from Narphu “a hidden valley” and then ascend to Saribung pass and enter in the Mustang and down to Jomsom.
This trekking trail offers the chance to explore the two hidden Himalayan valleys; Lomanthang valley in Mustang, also known as little Tibet in Nepal and Narphu Valley in the northwest of Annapurna region. This trek offers excellent untouched cultural and religious beauties with great geographical variations. During the starting point of the trek, Kagbeni (typical Tibetan Village), one can enjoy the view of Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche peak, and Dhampus. The journey brings the monasteries, culture, religion of Tibetan style, and the people to the close view with spectacular mountain scenery at the end of the summit. Along, there are interesting yet challenging paths, with rugged trails, cutting high into cliff sides and villages in between. There are many attractions to this trek. One of the main attractions of this trek is the MANI (prayer wall) at the Gelling Village, which is perhaps the longest and most spectacular main wall in Nepal. And the five-story white Dzong and red Gompa, collections of statues and Thankas as well as many large paintings of seated Buddhas in Charang. A 15th-century Luri Cave Monasteries can be observed during the trek in the same region.
This expedition is ideal for the explorers of the off the beaten path that is less used and more peaceful than the tourist trails. The best time to go on this expedition is April, May, September, October, and November.
