Overview

Jiri to Everest is well-known as a classic route. Though Jiri doesn’t serve trekkers with much of splendid mountain views, the alpine forest, ethnic villages of ethnic groups such as Brahmin, Chhetri, Magar, Tamang and Sherpa, glacial rivers, Buddhist monasteries make passing through Jiri a worth one. Trekking through Jiri requires walking experience and good health too. In return, Jiri offers trekkers with different food cuisines viz. Nepali food, ethnic food, and also international cuisines.

Next in this trek are many famous hubs viz. Namche Bazaar, Everest viewpoint, Khumjung village, Gokyo Ri (5,357 m.), Cho La pass (5,368 m.), Gorakshep and Kalapathar (5,545 m.).

A visit to the Khumjung village, a popular Sherpa village, will help in acclimatization

From Gokyo Valley, several peaks such as Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu are visible. Furthermore, Everest, Changtse, Nuptse Nup II, and also a part of Lhotse is seen from Kalapathar. Gorakshep is the easiest route that leads to Kalapathar.
