Jiri to Everest is well-known as a classic route. Though Jiri doesn’t serve trekkers with much of splendid mountain views, the alpine forest, ethnic villages of ethnic groups such as Brahmin, Chhetri, Magar, Tamang and Sherpa, glacial rivers, Buddhist monasteries make passing through Jiri a worth one. Trekking through Jiri requires walking experience and good health too. In return, Jiri offers trekkers with different food cuisines viz. Nepali food, ethnic food, and also international cuisines.
Next in this trek are many famous hubs viz. Namche Bazaar, Everest viewpoint, Khumjung village, Gokyo Ri (5,357 m.), Cho La pass (5,368 m.), Gorakshep and Kalapathar (5,545 m.).
A visit to the Khumjung village, a popular Sherpa village, will help in acclimatization
From Gokyo Valley, several peaks such as Cho Oyu, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu are visible. Furthermore, Everest, Changtse, Nuptse Nup II, and also a part of Lhotse is seen from Kalapathar. Gorakshep is the easiest route that leads to Kalapathar.
We start our driving from Kathmandu Valley through Araniko Highway passing some beautiful cities and holy places to reach Jiri by local bus.
Today we will trek only for 4 hours to reach Shivalaya. We will walk across the Gaurishanker Conservation Area.
We will pass the Deurali village then walk ahead to reach Bhandar Village. The village was completely destroyed by earthquake and is rebuilding. The monasteries and houses all were gone and they are yet to rebuilt.
We will walk downhill for 4 hours to reach Kinja then ascend 1 km to enter into the village of Sete.
Today we will cross the quite challenging Lamjura La Pass (3,530 m) after climbing for 4 hours. We then descend for 3 hours to reach Junbesi.
The trail goes through beautiful meadows and green forests which offers the splendid vistas over the valley. We will cross Tragshindo Pass (3,071 m) through steep, slippery and draining.
The path descends towards the beautiful Dudh Koshi River having cloudy colours. We will then cross colorful village Kharikhola and get into the Bupsa Village.
We will leave Sukre Village and walk further ascending through the large scattered village of Chaurikharka to reach Phakding.
The path goes along the bank of Dudh Koshi River and cross several suspension bridges. The route enters into the Sagarmatha National Park and reaches the beautiful village of Namche Bazaar.
Hike to Everest view point and visit Khumjung village for acclimatization.
Dole village is located in the Dudh Koshi River Valley , north of Khumjung and south of Machhermo.We will trek through the steeply uphill which will be slippery and narrow to reach beautiful village of Dole.
Gokyo Lakes are Olitographic lakes which are world’s highest fresh water lake comprising 6 lakes. We will walk for 5 hours to reach Gokyo Lakes.
In the early morning, we will start climbing Gokyo Ri which is just above the Gokyo Lakes. The scenery seen from Gikyo Ri is just undefinable. The spectacular vistas of snow-capped peaks and splendid views of Gokyo Valley will be unforgettable.
The route needs to be crossed challenging Cho- La Pass to travel towards Dzonglha Village.
Gorakshep is the highest permanently inhabited village. We will ascend steeply climbing through high cliffs to reach Gorakshep.
Hike early morning to Kalapathar 5,545m for the best views of Nuptse, Lhotse, and Everest Peaks. Then we will descend back to Lobuche for the overnight stay.
We will trek towards to Tengboche on our 17th day of the trekking trail.
We will trek back to Namche Bazaar along the forests and riverbank.
We will follow the Dudh Koshi River Bank to reach Lukla Airport.
We will take early flight to return back to Kathmandu Valley.
