Overview

he Sagarmatha National Park was established in 1976 under National Parks and Wildlife Conservation Act. It is located in the Himalayas of Eastern Nepal. The highest peak of the world, Mt. Everest dominates the National Park. Sagarmatha National Park is home for some endangered mammals like Himalayan Black Bear, Red Panda, Thars, etc. and birds like Red-billed chough, Yellow-billed cough, etc.

Sherpas that follow Tibetan Buddhism are major inhabitants of the region. They focus on agriculture and trade for their living.

Mera Peak (6,476 m.) is the highest trekking peak located in the Sagarmatha Zone. It lies in the southeast of the Everest. The first ascent to Mera Peak was made in 1953, May 20. The Mera Peak trek is technically a straightforward ascent. Though, trekker sought after Mera Peak, adjusting in the high attitude of Mera Peak becomes a challenge for some. Splendid panorama of Makalu, Kanchanjunga, Cho Oyu and Everest can be seen from the Mera Peak.

Itinerary

We will take early flight to Lukla. After lunch we will start our trekking trail towards Chuthenga.

We will cross quite challenging Zatra La Pass then camp there for the overnight stay.

We will descend for 3 hours then climb uphill to reach Kothe.

The route goes through the ridge of high cliffs which will be little bit strenuous to traverse towards Thakang from Kothe Village.

We will rest the whole day or explore the ethnic cultures and lifestyles of locals in the evening. The village offers close and stunning views of Mera Peak.

The route from Thaknag to Khare Kuna goes through the narrow trail but no need to be worried.

We will hike uphill to get better views of snow-capped peaks which are standing above us wearing white ornaments of snow offering spectacular scenery.

We will trek up to Mera High Camp which offers a challenging route to get there.

Summit to Mera Peak. After spending some quality time at the peak we gradually descend towards Khare Kuna for the overnight stay.

We will traverse through the narrow but plain path towards Kothe Village. The trail goes along the lateral moraine of the deg Glacier.

The trail goes uphill through the ridge of cliffs and descends sometimes through the forests to reach Zatra La.

We will trek towards Lukla through the riverbank then climb uphill to get into the beautiful Lukla Market.

We will take the next route to reach the beautiful village of Monjo. The Monjo Village is rich in ethnic culture and famous for its traditional festivals.

The route goes through the bank of Dudh Koshi River and crosses the beautiful forests of Rhododendron and Pines. We will explore the villages on our way. We will walk through the Sagarmatha National Park.

We will explore the Namche Market and hike to explore Sherpa Culture Museum, Sagarmatha National Park Museum, historic Namche Monastery.

We will pass through a beautiful pine and rhododendron forest, typical Sherpa house, and small villages. The trail offers you magnificent views of Kongde Ri. Thame is a small and beautiful village close to the border of Tibet. After spending some quality time we descend back to Namche for the overnight stay.

The route from Namche to Lukla goes through forests and crosses several rivers and villages. Kusum Kanguru (6,369 m), Nupla (5,885 m), Kongde Ri (6,093 m), Thamserku (6,808 m), etc. can be seen throughout the way.

Today, we will begin our trekking route towards Jiri. We will walk trough smooth trail in the beginning then the trail slowly becomes steep ascent as we go near to the village of Payun. We will stay overnight in Payun village.

The trail goes uphill for an hour then start descending downhill to the bank of Khari Khola. We will stay either in a tea house or tented camp at the Khari Khola Village situated in the bank of the river.

We will walk for more than 6 hours to reach Thaksindo village which is popularly known as Deurali. The village was completely destroyed by the earthquake. The houses and monuments are yet to be rebuilt.

We will trek towards Junbesi village along with the forests and cross rivers and many local settlements.

We will cross quite challenging Lamjhura Pass (3,510 m) before reaching Sete Village.

We will pass several villages and cross beautiful forests of Rhododendron and Pine on the way and walk for 6 hours to reach Deurali.

We will trek along with the beautiful forests and cross Bhandar village.

We will return back to Kathmandu from Jiri by bus or Jeep which takes 8 hours to get into the Kathmandu Valley.

As a first aid kit is important while trekking, we included it in the trek. And we also have guides who are trained in using a first aid kit in case of emergency too. Please note that our clients are responsible to bring all their required personal medications (prescription) for their allergies etc.

Yes, there are many trekking shops in Nepal where you can easily hire or purchase backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, down jackets, etc. You can easily find them mostly in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Yes, we will provide a responsible guide and our company takes all responsibilities to happen all safely and comfortably.

The Nepal rupee (NR) is the local currency accepted throughout the country. You will be able to exchange your national currency for rupees at the airport, banks, and other currency exchange offices.
