You can experience mountain adventures along with the richness of diverse cultures in the Solukhumbu region. Cultural Makalu and Solukhumbu Valley Trek allow you to grasp amazing experiences in this region. This trek is an amazing opportunity to witness natural and topographical variation with extraordinary and mystical diverse cultural insights of the local Sherpas community of Nepal.

Cultural Makalu and Solukhumbu Valley Trek will take you through the unexplored lower regions passing through rhododendron forest, magnificent monasteries, and the diverse ethnic cultural groups. In this trek, you can witness the unseen sight of the Everest region. The villages resting in this region are culturally and religiously diverse. We begin our trek from Kathmandu to Tumlingtar and drive to Num. This trek will offer you the panoramic scenes of the mountains including Gauri Shankar, Numbur, Katanga, and Karyilung. Not only this, but you can witness some significant ancient monasteries including nunneries as well.

In this trek, you can explore the mini Tibet and witness the great and diverse cultural aspects of lower Solukhumbu cultural trails. You also get to enjoy and experience the traditional Nepali cuisine. The experience will be memorable when one gets a close look at the Himalayas through the eyes of local people. The best time to go for this trek is around September to December as it will offer you the best views of the entire natural beauty. And it will be an easy trek where you can enjoy and capture one of the best landscape photographs too.

Itinerary

We take a 35 min Flight to Tumlingtar (460 m). On the way to Tumlingtar flight; you may see beautiful and majestic Mt. Everest range, Makalu & Mt. Kanchanjunga range. After we land at Tumlingtar then we drive to Num. Overnight in Tent camp.

We trek from the Sherpa village of Num to Seduwa. We travel along a surging trail and through the dense lush forest to reach Seduwa. Overnight in Tent Camp.

After breakfast, we ascend through the fields to the Arun Khola bridge. We continue our trek until we reach the village of Navagaun. It is another Sherpa village situated right above the Seduwa village. Overnight in Navagaun.

We continue our trek from Navagaun to reach Nurbugaun via Tashi Gaon. We reach Tashi Gaon along the way which is another Sherpa village. Then we continue walking towards Nurbugaun. Overnight in Nurbugaun.

From Nurbugaun, we will begin our journey ascending towards uphill for three hours then plain pastures for two hours with ascending and descending to enter into Walung Village. Overnight in Walung.

We will begin trekking early in the morning with beautiful scenes of high massifs along sheer cliffs for two hours via Deurali Pass. Then we will descend slowly to reach Dobatak where we will stay at tea house.

Today we visit Milarepa Cave which is a famous holy place in Tibet. There are also associated Milarepa Meditation Caves in the Himalayas of Nepal. We will visit one of them and move to Gauthala to stay overnight in a tented camp.

After morning breakfast, we move towards Lankuwa village and then further on to reach Dobane. You can also buy delicious tangerines that are sold along the trail by local villagers. We cross the river on a flexing bamboo bridge and trek through several small charming whitewashed villages with thatched roofs. Then we begin the steep, uphill climb to Dobane. Overnight in Dobane.

We continue our trek as we pass through a thick tropical forest and climb the waterfall steps and reach Tala (Lower) Phedi. We continue hiking another hour uphill along a pleasant trail. As we reach Salpa Phedi, we make a steep climb up stone steps through upper Salpa Phedi, then keep climbing, with increasingly amazing views down the valley. Finally, we reach Jaubari village. Here, you can find the best barley in the region. Overnight in Jaubari.

Today we continue our trek past terraced fields and through rhododendron forests. Then we pass the turnoff for Salpa Pokhari. Overnight in Salpa Pokhari.

Early in the morning, we will trek to reach Salpa Phedi. We will enter the SoluKhumbu region bypassing the Salpa Phedi. Here we can have a magnificent panorama of Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Makalu, and Mt. Everest among others. Then we continue to ascend and walk past beautiful rhododendron and pine forests to reach the small town of Sanam which is a settlement of the Sherpa people. Overnight in Sanam.

Today we continue our trek as we descend through the forest of rhododendron, brown oaks, and chir pines towards the village of Sorung. After we trek for about two hours from Shorung, we finally reach the Rai village of Gudel. Overnight in Gudel.

Today we have a scenic flight back to Kathmandu. You can witness the beautiful and majestic snow-capped mountains for the last time before you reach Kathmandu. After we arrive at Kathmandu we can either relax at our hotel or stroll around Thamel to do some shopping. Overnight in the hotel.

Tea house means local lodges that exist along the treks where we will sleep and eat. These lodges prepare a large variety of local and western meals at a reasonable price. Our guides are very familiar with all these tea houses.

As a first aid kit is important while trekking, we included it in the trek. And we also have guides who are trained in using a first aid kit in case of emergency too. Please note that our clients are responsible to bring all their required personal medications (prescription) for their allergies etc.

Yes, there are many trekking shops in Nepal where you can easily hire or purchase backpacks, sleeping bags, sleeping mats, down jackets, etc. You can easily find them mostly in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

Yes, we will provide a responsible guide and our company takes all responsibilities to happen all safely and comfortably.

The Nepal rupee (NR) is the local currency accepted throughout the country. You will be able to exchange your national currency for rupees at the airport, banks, and other currency exchange offices.
