Mustang trek is restricted trekking trail in Nepal which lies in the northern central part of Nepal and at the top of the Kaligandaki River. Mustang region has been described as “desert in the mountain”. Mustang region trek is a very rewarding one for those who want to experience the hospitality of the people living in this region. Mustang is a remote, semi-independent Tibetan kingdom within the territory of Nepal just north of the Annapurna Region on the Tibetan border, and one of the last bastions of undisturbed Tibetan culture in the world. Trekking in mustang is an adventure in wonderland. Astonishing altitude variations and ecological diversity make this area overflow with natural beauty. During mustang treks you feel experience the true life of the real mountain people in Nepal. In many ways, trekking into the Upper Mustang Area is similar to trekking in to Tibet, which geographically it is a part of. The trek takes you to the walled town of Lo-Manthang, a visually extraordinary place, home of the present Mustang’s King and full of beautiful temples and Gompa.
Upper mustang trekking has been open for trekkers /travelers after 1991. only limited trekkers can make trekking in relevant areas and special trekking permit required which you can obtain from legal government registered Nepal trekking agencies.
